Tax Reform – Income

The Minister of Finance, Vincent Van Peteghem, has presented his tax reform project, which includes several key points, including an increase in the tax-free portion of income “for all those who work,” starting on January 1, 2024.

In practice:

  • The tax-exempt amount would increase from 10,160 euros to 15,200 euros.
  • The income tax rate of 45% would apply to income between 60,000 euros and the higher tax brackets (replacing the previous threshold of 46,440 euros).

As a trade-off, a minimum tax rate of 15% would be applied to multinational companies with their headquarters in Belgium, and the annual tax on securities accounts would increase from 0.15% to 0.30%.
